General knowledge is the most important part of paper when you are going to give any competitive exam. This is the only section where you can score maximum as per knowledge about current affairs and history. The exam conduct by IBPS and other banks mainly contains last six months general knowledge which can you can read it from current affairs magazines and online. While on the other hand exam conducted by UPSC, SSC, Railways and other organisations, general studies play important role in the paper.
